About the Artwork: Dressed as a rainbow dancer from the Santa Clara Tewa Pueblo, this self-portrait shows the side of me that is rarely seen but is the driving force in the creation of my art. The side of me that I am continually exploring.
The symbol above my head represents the “Avanyu” (water-serpent) that brings living water to our people. Those in my family who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, recognize the Avanyu as another symbol of Christ, who is the living water. The symbol in the corner of the frame is the “Journey” symbol, representing the path that our life follows.
My life, my journey, is to follow Christ. He has guided me to the path that will help ME. He continues to light my journey, raining blessings upon me, giving me drink from His cup. I will forever strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ. My purpose is to build His kingdom using my unique talents and blessings.
